Onward and Upward in Liga for Madrid...but out the door from King's Cup!

In what JM has described as a positive start to the Real Madrid La Liga campaign, 6 games without defeat and a draw against arch rivals Barcelona, has been soured by an early and very unexpected exit from the Copa Del Rey.

Despite drawing at both home and away legs, it was the fact that Madrid conceded 2 goals at home to lowly opposition that should have JM concerned.

"We obviously fielded a weak team at home and this is something I take responsibility for - however at the same time I feel this team should have done the job". "Unfortunatley our minds were maybe already playing Barcelona in the Classico - focus was lacking, as was execution." JM stated in a press conference today.

The positives Real Madrid will take from away an early exit from the Copa Del Rey is that now they can turn their full attention to winning the league and finally producing European glory in the Champions League.

"Our fans will be disappointed with our early exit - yes, but if you ask our fans would they like success in winning the league or Champions League or would they like us to win the King's Cup - I think I know what they would say isn't it."
