Torres scoring problems continue

The problems with Fernando Torres is already well documented - but just for how long will SMB persevere with this player? And for that matter - how long can the old legs of Didier Drogba carry this team throughout the season.

This is the dilemma SMB faces now at Chelsea - oh how he must miss his old friend Messi about now.

Fernando Torres can still hear the laughter

Great Start to the Season

It's proving a great start to the season for the Premier Leagues big guns, in particular the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea.

Both with new, ex-La Liga bosses, have started the season off very strong - Man Utd in particular scoring 3 goals in each of these first 2 games - and the latest a victory against strong opposition in Tottenham.

"We ae not getting carried away - unlike our friends at Chelsea."
"It's a long season and it will be tough - we have Arsenal next and thats where our focus is at this stage."

Chelsea win Community Cup

Chelsea have drawn first blood in the battle against Premier League rivals Manchester United by taking out the traditional pre-season charity shield - better known as the Community Cup, in Wembly.

Chelsea dominated the early exchanges, in particluar their big black striker Didier Drogba proved unstoppable as he hit 3 goals from 3 shots all within the first 30 minutes to virtually seal the game before half time for the blues.

Man United, under the guidance of new boss, JM, showed some fight back and brought the game back with one goal late in the 2nd half, the game was again put to bed with a Ramires scrambbling ping pong goal in the final minutes.

United can count themselves unlucky in this one - with the final ball proving their undoing today and not mention coming up against a Drogba in fine form.

In his first outing as Chelsea manager, SMB, was surprisingly getting rather carried away with his team's performance.

"How good was that - it's easy." He said after the game.

Chelsea fans hope these words don't come back to bite him later in the season.

Man U to meet Chelsea in Communty Shield

This year’s English Season will start with the traditional curtain raiser, The Community Shield which will be contested between usual suspects Manchester United and Chelsea.

To heat things up even more, this will be the first time old foes JM and SB will face off with their new clubs, JM having recently taken charge of United, while SB has taken the reins at struggling Chelsea.

Most pundits are reserving judgement on both managers until they see what both have to offer with their new teams. It is without doubt both have had fantastic careers thus far, but this is a whole new ball game in England.

BREAKING NEWS: SB is new manager of Chelsea FC

In late breaking news from Stamford Bridge, Chelsea FC have announced the signing of former Barcelona Boss SB as their new Manager for the upcoming season.

No word yet whether the deal is more than one season based as SB has preferred in the past, or if it is more long term.

A statement from SB earlier today;

"I have stood down as FC Barcelona manager to pursue my managerial career in being the best manager in not just Spain but in England. I am expecting to bring trophies to Stamford Bridge and set a legacy in my career that the football world will never forget. Blue is the colour."

No doubt he has his work cut out for him this coming season. However finally we will see if this man can truly coach, or was he simply blessed with a brilliant team in Barcelona. Time will tell.

BREAKING NEWS: JM is new manager of Manchester United

In news announced overnight in Manchester, the worlds worst kept secret has finally been confirmed with JM confirming he has agreed to a three year contract with Manchester United starting next season.

Official statement from JM;
"I am extremely excited to begin this new challenge and journey in the city of Manchester. With such a legacy left by the previous management, I am confident I can continue the fine winning culture and lift plenty of trophies in the years to come."

"I have had many fine seasons at Real Madrid, and today for me is very emotional. I will miss the players and the fans very much and as such feel I would love to return some day.  I have discussed the possibility of returning in the future as I definitely feel I have much unfinished business here. The door - I am told - is always open. I wish them every success in the future."

Nightmare in Madrid as Super Robben breaks spainish hearts

It was meant to be the fairytale sendoff for one of Madrid's coaching legends, but things quickly turned into a nightmare with Bayern Munich defying all odds today in the Champions League Final in Madrid.

Firstly coming back from a 2 nil deficit and then 3-2 down with 4 minutes remaining, it was Robben who did the damage to score the winner in extra time to steal the Champions League trophy in ambush style.

Super Robben in fact scored 3 in todays final, in a match which will forever be marred by poor refereeing decisions - including atleast three clear penalty claims by Madrid in the extra time period.

"We are absolutely gutted today." JM could hardly speak after the game.
"My heart is broken. Not the way I wished to finish here. I am devastated"

In what is touted as JM's final game in charge of Real, it seemed a perfect send off with the champions League trophy the only one missing from the accomplished managers cabinet.

The fact the game was being played at Real Madrid's home, The Santiago Bernabeu, made things even more emotional given the final result.

Athletico Madrid win La Liga

After leading for most of the season, Athletico Madrid made it official and as they finished atop the league ladder and became Champions of La Liga.

Favorites Barcelona and Real Madrid had to settle for 4th and 5th in what can only be described as catastrophic disasters for both clubs.

Scenes in Madrid are said to be joyous - however for once its not the white half of Madrid celebrating - it's the Red and White half.

Shock exit for Madrid as Villarreal win the Kings Cup

An inspired effort from Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente sealed the biggest upset of the season as they turned a 2 nil loss from game one of the two leg tie into a 3 nil win victory against the one of the world's best teams in Real Madrid.

Terrible referee decisions did not help the Madristas, with the culmination of decisions coming in minute 118 as Madrid defender Pepe was ruled to have handled the ball in the box to gift Llorente a goal from the spot and progress.

"The decisions from the officials was appalling today." JM said after the loss.
"I am disgusted. But it is our own fault - we had the opportunity to progress - just one goal would have been enough."

In the Final, Villarreal easily disposed of Bilbao 3 - 1 to claim the Kings Cup Trophy.

Madrid have final say in the last Clasico

Facing down the barrel of a clean sweep against arch rivals Barcelona, Real Madrid did what many believed was impossible and turned a game one loss into a game two victory and earned progression into the Copa Del Rey Semi Finals.

As usual it was the Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo who stole the show and scored a valuable hat trick to seal his side's progression into the next round.

"We were dominate today, and we were determined." JM said after the game.
"We can forever say we won the one that counted this season."
